|---|---|
| Type | Statutory Recall (government-mandated recall) |
| Date filed | May 16, 2024 |
| Manufacturer(s) | Mazda |
| Component | Computer (Engine Control) |
| Production period | December 14, 2022 — October 31, 2023 |
| Vehicles affected | 4,696 units |
Defect
(1) The engine control computer uses incorrect learning conditions for fuel evaporative gas concentration, causing the system to perform learning while the purge valve is closed and to determine the concentration as lower than actual. When the fuel temperature inside the tank rises after driving and a high-concentration fuel vapor mixture is drawn into the engine, misfires may result. In the worst case, the engine may stall.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control computer with the corrected/updated software.
