Defect

On aerial work platforms, the suspension system was designed with insufficient consideration of the full range of suspension travel, leaving inadequate clearance between the work platform and the rear axle torque rod. When the suspension moves through a large range of motion — such as during rough-road operation — the work platform may contact the rear axle torque rod and the hose clamps in the surrounding area. Continued use under this condition may cause dents and other damage at the contact points.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the bump stopper with a revised unit incorporating an additional spacer. If contact damage is already present, repair the affected areas.
