Filing in context
The Suspension Arm / Rod is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 34 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 45 Hino notifications from 2012 in this archive. For scale, 4,633 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years and 2 months.
Defect
On high-center-of-gravity vehicles, the stabilizer arm on the rear axle air suspension has insufficient strength. Repeated lateral rolling causes the arm to develop a crack. Continued operation allows the crack to progress and, in the worst case, the arm may fracture, resulting in unstable vehicle handling.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add a new stabilizer to the rear axle and replace the existing stabilizer with a new part.
