Filing in context

The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 28 Hino notifications from 2022 in this archive. Defect

During recall repair work performed under notification number 5157 dated June 2, 2022, incorrect instructions in the battery cable inspection and replacement procedure resulted in non-conforming retaining clips being installed on the affected cables. Continued use allows engine vibration to wear through the cable insulation, exposing bare conductors that may short circuit. In the worst case, the engine may become unable to start.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the retaining clips with genuine parts and replace the battery cables with new units.
