Defect
In the back door electrical wiring, inadequate continuity testing equipment during the manufacturing process allows terminal deformation and reduced contact pressure to go undetected. Temperature and humidity cause oxidation to form on the affected terminals, resulting in poor electrical continuity. As a result, the reverse lights and related functions may stop operating.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the affected electrical wiring with a conforming unit.
