Defect
On large trucks, the fit dimensions between the axle beam and kingpin in the steering system are incorrect. Repeated heavy use reduces kingpin retention force, causing the kingpin to drop. The kingpin may then separate from the upper portion of the steering knuckle, disrupting wheel alignment and causing uneven tire wear and an abnormal steering feel. In the worst case, straight-line stability is lost.
Corrective action
Replace the kingpin on all vehicles with a corrected/revised part. Where damage is found on the axle beam, steering knuckle, or related components, replace those parts with new units.

状況
大型トラックのかじ取り装置において、アクスルビームとキングピンの嵌め合い寸法が不適切なため、過度な使用を繰り返すと、キングピンの保持力が低下しキングピンが降下するものがある。そのため、キングピンがステアリングナックル上部から分離してホイールアライメントが狂い、タイヤの偏摩耗及びハンドル操作に違和感が発生し、最悪の場合、直進安定性が損なわれるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、キングピンを対策品に交換する。なお、アクスルビーム及びステアリングナックル等に損傷がある場合は、新品に交換する。
