Defect
On medium-duty trucks, the brake pipes are mounted in an incorrect position, causing interference with the cross member. Road vibration and other driving forces can damage the pipes at the contact point, allowing brake fluid to leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the clearance between the brake pipes and the cross member. Where no clearance exists, add a retaining clip or replace the brake pipe with a corrected part.
