Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 4 manufacturers: Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan & Suzuki.
The Pressure Control/Transmission Component is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 13 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 39 Mazda notifications from 2018 in this archive. Defect
On vehicles equipped with an automated mechanical transmission (AGS), the select piston — the component that executes gear shifts — has an incorrect design, resulting in insufficient durability. Repeated gear changes can cause the select piston to fracture, illuminating a warning light and leaving the vehicle unable to shift gears or move.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the select piston with the corrected part.
