Filing in context
The Fuel Hose / Pipe is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 62 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 43 Hino notifications from 2018 in this archive. For scale, 1,672 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 5 months.
Defect
On medium-duty trucks, the fuel line for the dosing valve in the exhaust aftertreatment system is improperly secured. During snow driving or similar conditions, ice accumulation around the line can exert sufficient weight to deform or fracture the line. This allows fuel to leak and causes the exhaust aftertreatment system to stop functioning.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, modify the mounting method for the dosing valve fuel line.
