Defect
On vehicles equipped with a wheelchair boarding ramp, insufficient design of the ramp hinges and body mounting brackets allows cracks to develop in the hinges after repeated ramp opening, closing, and wheelchair loading cycles. Continued use in this condition can cause the hinge to fracture and the ramp to tilt. In the worst case, wheelchair users and attendants may fall.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the ramp hinges and body mounting brackets with corrected parts.
