Defect
On large buses, the engine control unit software is incorrect, causing carbon monoxide emissions during acceleration to exceed the limit specified in the Safety Standards. Black smoke output also increases, causing particulate matter (PM) to accumulate in the DPR (Diesel Particulate Removal) device. This triggers the engine warning light and may damage the DPR.
Corrective action
Reprogram the engine control unit on all vehicles. Inspect the DPR (Diesel Particulate Removal) device and replace it with a new unit if damage is found.
