Filing in context
The Suspension Arm/Rod is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 24 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 27 Mazda notifications from 2017 in this archive. Defect
(1) The resin pipe section of the fuel pump has insufficient durability. Fuel pressure within the pipe, combined with heat from the engine and exhaust system, causes the pipe to deteriorate over time. Continued use allows the deterioration to progress, resulting in a crack in the pipe and a fuel leak. In the worst case, this may result in a vehicle fire. (2) An improper manufacturing process was used for the ball joint of the front suspension lower arm, and cracks may be present in the ball joint socket. If a significant impact is applied during driving, the ball joint may separate from the socket. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, replace the fuel pump and filter kit with the corrected parts. (2) On all vehicles, replace the complete lower arm assembly with the corrected parts.
