Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 4 manufacturers: Mitsubishi, Nissan, Nissan Diesel & UD Trucks.
The Body structure is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 3 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 56 Mitsubishi notifications from 2015 in this archive. For scale, 2,872 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 years and 2 months.
Defect
On large touring buses, the manually retractable left-side mirror stay was improperly assembled, resulting in insufficient clamping force on the mirror-side stay mounting bolts. Driving vibration causes cracks to develop at the mirror-side stay attachment point of the manual retraction unit. Continued use allows the cracks to propagate and, in the worst case, the left-side mirror may detach.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the manual retraction unit and mirror-side stay with corrected parts.
