Defect
In the tailgate gas-filled spring, improper paint application on the outer tube's end cap allows the outer tube to rust. Continued use allows the rust to progress, causing the outer tube to swell and the end cap to crack. In the worst case, the outer tube may burst when the tailgate is opened, injuring bystanders.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the gas spring with a corrected part.

状況
テールゲートのガス封入式スプリングにおいて、外筒のエンドキャップ部の塗装が不適切なため、外筒が錆びるものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、錆が進行し、外筒が膨らみエンドキャップが割れ、最悪の場合、テールゲートを開く際に外筒が破裂し、周囲の人が負傷するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ガススプリングを対策品と交換する。
