Defect
The gas-filled stay on the back door has improperly applied paint on the outer tube's end cap, causing the cap to corrode prematurely. Continued use allows the corrosion to progress, reducing the tube wall thickness until internal gas pressure ruptures the outer tube. The stay may then be ejected from the vehicle and fall onto the roadway, creating a traffic hazard. Additionally, if the stay ruptures while the back door is being opened, bystanders may be injured.
Corrective action
Replace the gas-filled stay on all vehicles with a corrected part. Because replacement parts require time to procure, as an interim measure, inspect the stay and replace it immediately with a corrected part if wall thickness reduction due to corrosion is detected. If no wall thickness reduction is found, the corrected part will be installed at a later date.

状況
バックドアのガス封入式ステーにおいて、外筒のエンドキャップ部の塗装が不適切なため、早期に腐食するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、腐食が進行し、封入されたガスにより外筒が破損して、当該ステーが車体の外に飛び出し、路上に落下して交通の妨げになるおそれがある。また、バックドアを開く際に当該ステーが破損すると、周囲の人が負傷するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ガス封入式ステーを対策品と交換する。 尚、交換部品の準備に時間を要することから、暫定措置として、当該ステーを点検し、腐食による板厚低下が認められる場合は、対策品と交換する。板厚低下が認められない場合は、後日対策品と交換する。
