Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Isuzu & Nissan.
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 24 Isuzu notifications from 2016 in this archive. For scale, 2,427 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 17 years and 3 months.
Defect
On emergency vehicles, the waterproofing treatment on the wiring harness routed inside the driver-side step is inadequate. Water entering the cabin from snow or moisture carried on footwear flows into the step area and accumulates inside the harness protective cover. This causes corrosion and broken wires at the harness joint. Continued use may, in the worst case, prevent the engine from starting.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, apply proper waterproofing treatment to the affected harness. Inspect the joint section and replace any joints showing rust with new parts.
