Defect

On fire trucks (ladder type), the weld joining the rear axle torque rod mounting bracket to the underside of the frame was improperly executed. Repeated braking loads cause cracks to develop at the weld. Continued operation allows the cracks to propagate and, in the worst case, the torque rod mounting bracket may detach from the frame, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

Inspect the underside frame panel of the rear axle suspension on all vehicles. If cracks are found, repair the affected area and weld reinforcement material to the section. Because the welding work requires significant time, vehicles without cracks will be reinforced progressively, prioritizing older units and those with higher mileage.

状況

消防車(はしご車)の緩衝装置において、後軸トルクロッド取付ブラケットとフレーム下面の溶接が不適切なため、制動時の入力の繰り返しで溶接部に亀裂が生じることがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、亀裂が進行し、最悪の場合、トルクロッド取付ブラケットの溶接部が剥がれ走行不能になるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、後軸サスペンションのフレーム下面板部を点検し、亀裂が発生している場合は補修の上、当該部に補強材を溶接する。なお、改善措置の溶接作業に時間を要することから、亀裂が発生していない場合は、年式の古いもの若しくは走行距離の多いものから補強材を順次溶接する。
