Defect
Investigation of field-returned passenger-side airbag inflators confirmed that some inflator housings have inadequate sealing. Over extended service, atmospheric moisture may penetrate the inflator interior, causing the propellant to absorb moisture. If this occurs, the airbag may not deploy normally during a collision.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, as a precautionary measure, replace the inflator with a new unit or deactivate the passenger-side airbag function and display a warning on the passenger-side sun visor indicating that the airbag is inoperative. Once replacement parts become available, vehicles will be remedied in order from oldest to newest model year. All replaced parts will be collected for root cause investigation.

状況
助手席用エアバッグのインフレータ（膨張装置）において、市場回収品を調査した結果、インフレータ容器に気密不良のものがあることを確認した。そのため、長期間使用する過程で大気中の水分がインフレータ内部に浸入し、ガス発生剤が吸湿してエアバッグ展開時に正常に展開しないおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、予防的措置としてインフレータを新品と交換、または助手席エアバッグの機能を停止するとともに、助手席サンバイザ部に当該エアバッグが作動しない旨の警告を表示する。 また、交換用部品の準備ができた段階で年式の古いものから順次新品と交換する。なお、交換部品については全数回収して原因調査を実施する。
