Defect
On the rear-seat access door, the mounting section for the front seat belt retractor has insufficient strength. Repeated forceful door closing over an extended period may damage the mounting section, causing the seat belt to malfunction. In the worst case, the seat belt retractor may detach completely, rendering the seat belt unusable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add a reinforcing bracket to the seat belt retractor mounting section. If cracks are found in the door panel, also replace the seat belt retractor with a new unit.
