Filing in context
The Blow-By System is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 54 Isuzu notifications from 2012 in this archive. For scale, 2,379 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 years and 10 months.
Defect
On the bus engine blow-by gas recirculation system, the diaphragm has insufficient durability and is mounted in an improper position. Extended use causes cracks to develop in the diaphragm, allowing engine oil to be drawn into the intake manifold through the blow-by gas passage. Oil then enters the engine combustion chamber, and in the worst case, internal engine damage may occur, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the blow-by gas recirculation system. Any unit with an improperly positioned mounting or incorrect diaphragm material must be replaced with the corrected part.
