Defect

On large route buses, the engine control program is incorrect. When load increases at idle, incomplete combustion occurs and carbon deposits accumulate, blocking the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler. Continued operation can cause the turbocharger turbine blades to chip, triggering the engine check lamp, reducing power output, and preventing smooth vehicle operation.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control program and replace the EGR cooler, EGR valve, turbocharger, and EGR pipe with new parts.

状況

大型路線バスにおいて、原動機の制御プログラムが不適切なため、アイドル回転で負荷が増大した場合に燃焼不良となり、カーボンデポジットの堆積で排気ガス再循環(EGR)クーラーが閉塞するものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、ターボのタービン翼が欠損し、エンジンチェックランプが点灯するとともに出力不足となり、円滑な走行ができなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、原動機の制御プログラムを書き換えるとともに、EGRクーラ、EGRバルブ、ターボならびにEGRパイプを新品に交換する。
