Defect
The wiring harness connected to the electric power steering control unit (EPS-ECU) is improperly secured. Vibration during driving causes micro-sliding between the EPS-ECU connector terminals and the wiring connector terminals, wearing the terminals. Continued use causes a poor electrical connection between the terminals. As a result, a warning light illuminates, the power steering assist function deactivates, and steering effort increases.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the EPS-ECU bracket assembly with a corrected part. Remove the vinyl binding tape from the EPS-ECU wiring harness and secure the wiring to the replacement bracket.

状況
電動パワーステアリングコントロールユニット(EPS-ECU)に接続する電気配線の固定方法が不適切なため、走行振動等によりEPS-ECUのコネクタ端子と電気配線のコネクタ端子間で微小摺動し端子が摩耗するものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、当該端子間で導通不良となり、警告灯が点灯するとともにパワーステアリングのアシスト機能が停止し、ハンドルの操作力が増大するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、EPS-ECUブラケット一式を対策品と交換するとともに、EPS-ECUに接続する電気配線の電気配線結束用ビニールテープを除去したうえで、当該電気配線を当該ブラケットに固定する。
