Filing in context
The Electrical Equipment (Other) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 7 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2011 in this archive. For scale, 1,699 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 1 month.
Defect
In the hybrid system's DC-DC converter, which supplies low-voltage auxiliary power, an improper diode inspection method was used during manufacturing, damaging the diode in some units. Continued use may cause a short circuit in the low-voltage circuit, blowing the main fuse, stalling the engine, and preventing restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the DC-DC converter with a known-good unit.
