Defect
In the hybrid system's DC-DC converter, which supplies low-voltage auxiliary power, an improper diode inspection method was used during manufacturing, damaging the diode in some units. Continued use may cause a short circuit in the low-voltage circuit, blowing the main fuse, stalling the engine, and preventing restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the DC-DC converter with a known-good unit.
