Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Chassis frame as the affected component. This filing is one of 38 Mitsubishi notifications from 2011 in this archive. Defect
On four-wheel-drive double-cab fire trucks, the chassis frame has insufficient strength, causing cracks to develop. Continued use in this condition allows the cracks to propagate, leading to frame fracture. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add reinforcement components to the chassis frame. Where cracks have already formed, repair the cracks before installing the reinforcement.
