Defect

The bush of the head idler gear that drives the engine camshaft is improperly machined. This creates excessive clearance between the gear's fixed shaft and the bush, generating excessive stress at the base of the shaft flange. Continued use may cause the flange to break, allowing the gear to interfere with surrounding components and produce abnormal noise, or engine oil to leak. In the worst case, the gear may disengage, causing the engine to stall and leaving the vehicle unable to restart.

Corrective action

Inspect the idler gear bush on all vehicles. If the inner diameter is outside specification, replace the complete gear assembly and shaft with serviceable parts.

状況

原動機のカムシャフト駆動用ヘッドアイドラギヤのブッシュの加工が不適切なため、当該ギヤの固定シャフトとブッシュの間にガタが生じ、シャフトつば部の付け根に過大な応力が発生するものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、つば部が破損してギヤが周辺部品と干渉し、異音が発生する、またはエンジンオイルが漏れ、最悪の場合、当該ギヤの噛み合いが外れて、エンジンが停止し再始動不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、アイドラギヤのブッシュを点検し、内径が規格を外れているものは当該ギヤ一式とシャフトを良品と交換する。
