Defect
The heat treatment applied to the wedge-type expander tappets used to actuate the brake shoes in the service brake system is insufficient. As a result, the roller contact surface of the tappet wears prematurely, developing indentations. This prevents the expander from fully actuating the brake shoes, reducing brake force.
Corrective action
Verify the serial number of the expander on all vehicles and replace any affected units with corrected parts.

状況
主制動装置のブレーキシューを拡張するエキスパンダのウェッジ部タペットの熱処理が不適切なため、タペットのローラ転動面が早期に摩耗するものがある。そのため、ローラ転動面に凹みが発生し、ブレーキシューの拡張ができず制動力が低下するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該エキスパンダの製造番号を確認し、該当するものは良品と交換する。
