Filing in context
The Door is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 103 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 44 Isuzu notifications from 2009 in this archive. For scale, 2,707 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 5 months.
Defect
On large touring buses, the anti-entrapment switch for the swing door has inadequate waterproofing, and the cover shape above the door lock position detection switch is improperly designed. If both switches fail, the door anti-entrapment mechanism may activate unintentionally. In the worst case, the door may open while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace both switches with waterproof-type switches and add a cover to any switch cover section that lacks one. Because supply of the corrected parts requires additional time, as an interim measure the door anti-entrapment mechanism will be disabled.
