Filing in context
This filing is one of 31 Isuzu notifications from 2021 in this archive. For scale, 3,226 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 14 years and 9 months.
Defect
On large buses, the metal water supply tank for the toilet has insufficient strength at its mounting points. This allows the mounting points to fail and the tank to fall from the vehicle. If the tank detaches, the toilet electrical wiring secured to it is damaged and may cause a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, secure the water supply tank with a retaining belt. (2) On all vehicles, inspect the toilet electrical wiring for damage and relocate the mounting position and routing. If wiring damage is found, repair it.
