Defect

In the powertrain, the weld joining the propeller shaft pipe to the spline shaft has insufficient fatigue strength. Repeated aggressive starts from rest or repeated hill starts may cause a crack to develop at the weld. Continued use allows the crack to propagate and, in the worst case, the propeller shaft fractures, leaving the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the propeller shaft with the corrected part.

状況

動力伝達装置において、プロペラシャフトのパイプとスプラインシャフトの溶接部の耐久強度が不足しているため、急発進、又は登坂での発進を繰り返し過度に行うと当該部に亀裂が発生するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが折損して走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、プロペラシャフトを対策品と交換する。
