Defect
On front-wheel-drive vehicles, the lubricating grease used in the wheel-side joint of the drive shaft may contain excessive moisture. When the vehicle is maneuvered at full steering lock during parking or from a standing start, the lubricating oil film may temporarily break down and allow excessive force to act on the joint. In the worst case, the joint may fracture, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the drive shaft and replace any affected unit with the corrected part.

状況
前輪駆動用のドライブシャフトにおいて、車輪側ジョイント部に使用している潤滑用グリスの水分量が多いものがある。そのため、駐車時や発進時等にハンドルを大きく切った状態で走行した際に一時的に潤滑油膜が切れ、ジョイント部に過大な力が加わることがあり、最悪の場合、ジョイント部が破損し、走行できなくおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ドライブシャフトを点検し、該当するものは対策品と交換する。
