Defect
The passenger-side airbag inflator uses improper moisture-barrier construction for its propellant, allowing repeated temperature and humidity cycling to degrade the propellant. As a result, the inflator housing may rupture during airbag deployment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the airbag inflator or airbag assembly with an alternative part as a preventive measure.
