Defect
On sliding doors, the drain outlet position of the front latch cover is improperly located, causing drained water to collect on the lower end of the outer handle cable. When the outer handle is operated, water is drawn into the cable. In low temperatures, this water may freeze, preventing the handle from returning after the door is opened and making it impossible to close the door. Note: This recall supersedes notification no. 1354, dated February 10, 2005, because the corrective measures in that filing were found to be insufficient; the remedy and scope have been revised accordingly.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the front latch covers on both left and right sliding doors with corrected parts, and apply grease to the lower end of the outer handle cable.

状況
スライドドアのフロントラッチカバーの排水位置が不適切なため、排水された水がアウタハンドルケーブル下端に付着し、アウタハンドル操作時に水滴がケーブル内に引き込まれるものがある。そのため、低温時に水滴が凍結し、アウタハンドルでドアを開けた場合にケーブルの摺動抵抗でハンドルが戻らず、ドアを閉められなくなるおそれがある。 （備考）本届出は、平成１７年２月１０日「届出番号１３５４」のリコール届出において、不具合に対する改善措置の内容が不十分であったため、改善措置の内容及び対象範囲を見直し、再度対策を行うものである。
改善措置
全車両、左右スライドドアのフロントラッチカバーを対策品と交換するとともに、アウタハンドルケーブル下端にグリスを塗布する。
