Defect

The front latch crank lever, which unlocks the slide door latch, is improperly assembled, resulting in insufficient grease application to the lever sliding surface. Water that enters the lever area during rain driving can freeze on this surface. If the slide door is opened under these conditions, the lever may fail to return from the unlocked position, preventing the door from being closed.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the front latch assemblies on both the left and right slide doors with non-defective units.
