Defect
The secondary winding routing inside the ignition coil is improperly assembled. Engine heat causes excessive stress to concentrate at the winding terminal, which may result in a broken wire. This reduces ignition coil output and causes the engine to run rough. Continued use allows the electrical discharge from the disconnection to melt the coil's resin components, and the catalytic converter may overheat and sustain damage.
Corrective action
Inspect the serial number of the ignition coil on all vehicles. Replace any coil that falls within the affected range with a corrected part. On vehicles that have been operated with a rough-running engine, replace the catalytic converter with a new unit.

状況
点火コイル内部の二次巻線の取り回しが不適切なため、エンジンの熱影響により当該巻線端末部に過大な応力が加わり断線することがある。そのため、点火コイルの出力が不足してエンジン不調となり、そのまま使用を続けると、断線による放電作用で点火コイルの樹脂部が溶損する、又は、触媒コンバータが異常過熱して損傷するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該点火コイルの製造番号を確認し、該当するものは点火コイルを対策品と交換する。また、エンジン不調のまま使用された車両については触媒コンバータを新品と交換する。
