Defect

The mounting bracket that secures the steering gearbox to the body has insufficient strength. Repeated stationary steering operations cause cracks to develop near the bracket's body weld points. Continued use allows the bracket to fracture, causing the steering gearbox to become loose in its mounting and, in the worst case, resulting in loss of steering control.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the mounting bracket. Any vehicle not yet fitted with a reinforcement bracket must have a reinforcement bracket added and additional welding applied to the mounting bracket. Additionally, inspect the weld points; if cracks are found, perform weld repair.

状況

ステアリングギアボックスを車体に固定する取付金具の強度が不足しているため、据え切り操作を繰り返し行うと、当該取付金具の車体溶接部付近に亀裂が発生するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該金具が破損し、ステアリングギアボックスの固定がぐらつき、最悪の場合、操舵不能になるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該取付金具を点検し,補強金具が未装着の車両については、取付金具に補強金具及び溶接を追加する。なお、溶接部を点検し、亀裂がある場合は溶接補修を実施する。
