The hardening process applied to the stepped sections of the front and rear axle shafts is insufficient, leaving those sections with inadequate strength. Repeated high-speed cornering can cause cracks to develop at the affected area. In the worst case, the axle shaft may fracture, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
