Defect

In the power transmission system, the lock nut securing the bevel pinion bearing in the front wheel differential was tightened with insufficient torque and improperly staked to prevent rotation. Continued use allows the lock nut to loosen, producing abnormal noise. In the worst case, the bevel pinion fractures, eliminating braking force to the front wheels and reducing overall braking performance.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the lock nut with a new part. If any signs of loosening are found during replacement, inspect the bevel pinion, bevel gear, and bearing for damage and replace any damaged components with new parts.

状況

動力伝達装置において、前輪差動機のベベルピニオンのベアリングを締め付けているロッ クナットの締め付け力及び回り止めのカシメに不適切なものがあり、そのままの状態で使 用を続けると、ロックナットが緩み異音が発生し、最悪の場合、ベベルピニオンが破損し て前輪側に制動力が伝わらなくなり、制動力が低下するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、ロックナットを新品に交換する。交換時にロックナットに緩みの兆候があるもの については、ベベルピニオン、ベベルギヤ及びベアリングの損傷状態を点検し、損傷して いるものについてはベベルピニオン、ベベルギヤ及びベアリングを新品と交換する。
