Filing in context
The Continuously variable transmission (CVT) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 5 of its 4,890 filings. Defect
In the continuously variable transmission, a non-conforming part was installed on the output-side pulley shaft during assembly. The steel belt contacts areas of the pulley outside the normal contact zone, which may damage the belt. Continued use may cause the steel belt to break, leaving the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all affected vehicles, replace the continuously variable transmission with a conforming unit.
