Defect
The notch groove of the rack that controls fuel injection quantity in the fuel injection pump has insufficient strength, and the method used to mount the fuel injection pump to the engine is improper. Continued operation at high engine speeds may cause the rack to fracture, allowing engine speed to rise uncontrolled. In the worst case, this may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the part number of the injection pump and replace any applicable unit with a revised injection pump incorporating updated rack material and geometry. On vehicles equipped with the 8DC11 engine, inspect the injection pump mounting condition and, if not yet corrected, add a bracket to the injection pump.

状況
燃料噴射ポンプの燃料噴射量を制御するラックの切欠き溝の強度が不十分なため、及び燃 料噴射ポンプの原動機への取付方法が不適切なため、高回転域での使用を続けると当該ラ ックが折損し、エンジン回転が上昇して、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、噴射ポンプの品番を点検し、該当品はラックの材質および形状を変更した噴射ポ ンプに交換する。また、8DC11型原動機搭載車については、噴射ポンプの取付状態を 点検し、未対策の場合は噴射ポンプにブラケットを追加する。
