Defect
On vehicles equipped with a 4-bag air spring suspension system, the ball joint nut at the center of the V-rod that secures the rear axle to the frame may not have been tightened sufficiently. Continued operation allows vibration and load to progressively loosen and eventually detach the nut. Additionally, insufficient waterproofing of the ball joint allows water intrusion and rust formation; continued use causes the plastic bearing to wear and develop play. As a result, the rear axle may separate from the V-rod and shift laterally, impairing directional stability, or the tire and wheel may contact the body and, in the worst case, cause a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the V-rod with a corrected part. Because full supply of corrected parts requires time, as an interim measure inspect the affected area and replace any unit showing abnormality with a corrected part immediately; units showing no abnormality will be replaced with corrected parts at a later date.

状況
4バック式空気ばね緩衝装置付車両の後車軸を車枠に固定するVロッド中央部のボールジ ョイント部において、ナットが十分に締め付けられていなかったものがあり、そのままの 状態で使用を続けると、走行中の振動、荷重で当該ナットが緩み、脱落することがある。 また、当該ボールジョイント部の防水性が不足しているため、水が内部に浸入して錆が発 生し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、樹脂ベアリングが摩耗してがたが発生すること がある。そのため、Vロッドから車軸が離脱し、後車軸が横方向にずれて操縦安定性が損 なわれたり、タイヤホイールが車体と接触し、最悪の場合、火災が発生するおそれがある 。
改善措置
全車両、当該Vロッドを対策品に交換する。なお、対策品の全数供給に時間を要するため 、当面の暫定措置として、当該部を点検し異常があるものは、対策品と交換する。異常が ないものは後日、対策品と交換する。
