Defect
On rear tandem-axle trucks, the mud and water exclusion plate (dust cover) mounted behind the brake drum of the rear non-drive axle is incorrectly shaped. During wet conditions, muddy water penetrates the brake drum, travels along the wheel cylinder, and drips onto the inner hub oil seal retainer. Continued operation allows rust to form on the retainer, causing the oil seal to wear and water to enter the hub. In the worst case, hub bearing seizure may occur, leading to a vehicle fire or wheel detachment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the dust cover, oil seal, and inner hub bearing retainer with corrected parts. Additionally, inspect the hub interior; any bearing showing abnormality must be replaced with a new unit. Because full supply of corrected parts requires time, an interim measure will be applied: inspect the hub bearing, oil seal, and inner hub bearing retainer, and replace any components showing abnormality with new units.

状況
後２軸トラックの後後軸（非駆動軸）ブレーキドラム裏側に装着されている泥水浸入防止 板（ダストカバー）の形状が不適切なため、雨天時等に泥水がブレーキドラム内に浸入し ブレーキのホイールシリンダを伝って内側のハブオイルシールリテーナ部へ滴下する。そ のため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとリテーナに錆が発生して、オイルシールが摩耗 し、ハブ内に水が浸入して、最悪の場合、ハブベアリングが焼付いて、車両火災、あるい は脱輪に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ダストカバー、オイルシール、インナハブベアリングリテーナを対策品と交換す る。また、ハブ内部を点検し、ベアリングに異常が見られるものは、新品と交換する。 なお、対策品の全数供給に時間を要するため、当面の暫定措置として、当該部を点検の上 、ハブベアリング、オイルシール、インナハブベアリングリテーナに異常が見られるもの は、新品と交換する。
