Defect
The spare tire carrier bracket was improperly installed when relocated, leaving it unable to withstand vibration during vehicle operation. Continued use causes cracks to develop in the bracket. In the worst case, the bracket may fracture and separate from the vehicle, dropping the spare tire onto the roadway and creating a hazard for other traffic. Note: This filing corrects errors in the manufacturing date range and number of affected vehicles identified in recall notification 1088, submitted by Furukawa Unic on May 27, 2004.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the spare tire carrier bracket and take the following corrective action based on crack severity: (1) If the crack has reached the bent section of the bracket, weld a reinforcement plate to the chassis frame and secure a new spare tire carrier bracket with bolts. (2) If the crack has not yet reached the bent section, repair-weld the cracked area, add supplemental welds to the bracket, and weld on a reinforcement bracket and reinforcement bent member. (3) If no crack is present, add supplemental welds to the bracket and weld on a reinforcement bracket and reinforcement bent member.

状況
スペアタイヤキャリアブラケットを移設した際の取付け方法が不適切なため、走行中の振 動により当該ブラケットに亀裂が生じるものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を 続けると、最悪の場合、当該ブラケットが折損してスペアタイヤとともに脱落し、他の交 通の安全を妨げるおそれがある。 備考:本件は古河ユニックより平成16年5月27日付けリコール届出1088にて届出を行った ものですが、リコール対象車両の製作期間及び台数の一部について対象車輌の選定の際に 誤りがあったことが判明したため訂正するものです。
改善措置
全車両、スペアタイヤキャリアブラケットを点検し、亀裂状態に応じて下記の処置をとる 。 ①亀裂が当該ブラケットの曲げ部に達している場合は、シャーシフレームにプレートを溶 接し、新品のスペアタイヤキャリアブラケットとボルト締結する。 ②亀裂が当該ブラケットの曲げ部まで達していない場合は、亀裂部を補修溶接し、当該ブ ラケットを追加溶接するとともに、補強ブラケット及び補強折り曲げ材を溶接で追加する 。 ③亀裂がない場合は、当該ブラケットを追加溶接するとともに、補強ブラケット及び補強 折り曲げ材を溶接で追加する。
