Defect

The weld on the bracket that secures the steering gearbox to the cross member (right side of two mounting points) is improperly formed on some vehicles. Repeated full-lock steering maneuvers may damage the weld, producing abnormal noise and excessive steering play. In the worst case, reliable steering control is lost.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the weld on the bracket. Replace the cross member with a conforming unit on any vehicle where the weld is found to be defective.

状況

 かじ取り装置において、ギヤボックスをクロスメンバに固定するブラケット(2箇所の うち右側)の接合部の溶接に不適切なものがあるため、ハンドル据え切り操作等を頻繁に 繰り返すと、当該ブラケットの溶接部が損傷し、異音やハンドルの遊びが大きくなり、最 悪の場合、確実な操舵ができなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

 全車両、当該ブラケット溶接部を点検し、不適切なものはクロスメンバを良品と交換す る。
