Defect
On vehicles equipped with a pneumatic parking brake, the wheel cylinder boot was improperly installed on certain units, resulting in inadequate sealing. Water intrudes into the boot and causes rust on the draw rod and wedge rod, degrading draw rod sliding movement and reducing parking brake force. In the worst case, the wedge rod fractures, disabling the parking brake on that wheel and severely reducing parking brake performance.
Corrective action
Inspect the interior of the wedge-rod integrated wheel cylinder on all vehicles. (1) Where no internal rust is present, reinstall the boot correctly. (2) Where internal rust is present, replace the wheel cylinder assembly with a new unit and install a new boot correctly.

状況
空気式駐車制動装置において、ホイールシリンダ用ブーツの取付け作業が不適切なため 、気密性が不十分なものがあり、ブーツ内に水が浸入してドローロッドやウエッジロッド が錆びて、ドローロッド摺動部の動きが悪くなり駐車制動力が低下することがあり、最悪 の場合、ウエッジロッドが折損することにより、当該車輪の駐車ブレーキが作動しなくな り、著しく駐車制動能力が低下するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ウエッジロッド一体型ホイールシリンダ内部を点検し、 ①内部が錆びていないものについてはブーツを正しく取付ける。 ②内部が錆びているものについては当該ホイールシリンダアッセンブリを新品に交換する と共に新品のブーツを正しく取付ける。
