Defect

On manual transmission vehicles equipped with a clutch-pedal-bypass engine start system, internal components of the starter contain machining defects that can cause the ignition key to return sluggishly after engine start. Continued use in this condition may blow the fuse and, in the worst case, cause the engine to stall and prevent restart.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, apply lubricant to the key insertion point of the affected unit and replace the ignition switch with a non-defective part.
