Defect

The weld joining the main shaft and joint of the steering column shaft is insufficiently bonded on affected units. Continued operation in this condition may cause the weld to separate, resulting in loss of steering control.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the steering column shaft weld. Any shaft with an insufficient weld is replaced with a conforming part.

かじ取り装置のステアリングコラムシャフト部(主軸と継手)の溶接に不十分なものがあ り、最悪の場合、そのままの状態で走行を続けると溶接部がはずれ、かじ取り操作ができ なくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、ステアリングコラムシャフトの溶接部を点検し、溶接が不十分なものは、ステア リングシャフトを良品と交換する。
