Defect
On the evaporative emission control system, the protective cover over the atmospheric vent of the water-separator air chamber in the charcoal canister was improperly designed. During wet-weather driving, water thrown up by the tires may be drawn into the system, causing rust to develop on the canister's check valve. Continued use may cause the check valve to seize, preventing fuel vapor from being drawn into the engine. In the worst case, fuel vapor may vent directly to atmosphere through the atmospheric vent port.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, remove the protective cover, add an atmospheric vent port to the water-separator air chamber, and replace the charcoal canister with a new unit.

状況
燃料蒸発ガス排出抑止装置のチャコールキャニスター(燃料蒸発ガスを貯蔵する装置) において、防水空気槽の大気開放口部にある保護カバーの構造が不適切なため、雨天走行 時にタイヤが跳ね上げた水を吸い込んだ場合、チャコールキャニスターの逆流防止弁に錆 の発生するものがあり、このままの状態で使用を続けると、最悪の場合、チャコールキャ ニスターの逆流防止弁が固着し、燃料蒸発ガスが原動機へ吸引されなくなるため、大気開 放口から燃料蒸発ガスが漏れ出すおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、保護カバーを取り外し、防水空気槽に大気開放口を追加するとともに、チャコ ールキャニスターを新品と交換する。
