Defect

On the turn signal switch harness, the routing and clip band attachment points to the vehicle body are incorrect. Steering inputs during driving cause the harness to flex repeatedly at the clip band location. Continued use allows this repeated flexing to produce a broken wire in the harness, resulting in malfunction of the headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and horn, or preventing engine start via the starter switch.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the turn signal switch harness with the corrected part, reroute the harness, secure it with harness bands, and install protective covering.
