Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 18 Honda notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 1,236 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 9 months.
Defect
On hybrid vehicles, the battery cable connecting the sub-fuse box to the battery incorporates an improperly designed circuit. In a side-impact collision, the cable may be pinched by vehicle body structure and sustain damage. If the cable short circuits, current may continue to flow through the damaged cable, causing it to overheat. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may result.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the battery cable with a corrected/revised part. Owners will be notified separately once replacement parts are available.
