Filing in context
The Speedometer is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 36 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 32 Honda notifications from 2025 in this archive. For scale, 4,782 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 month.
Defect
During production of the speedometer, improper jig management during painting of the front brake panel — which houses the speed-transmission cable insertion hole — allows paint to enter the hole, reducing its diameter on some units. When the cable is forcefully inserted during assembly, the cable tip may bend. In the worst case, tire rotation is not transmitted through the cable and the speedometer fails to operate.
Corrective action
All vehicles: replace the front brake panel with a conforming unit, and replace the speed-transmission cable and speedometer with new parts.
